On May 15th we had the pleasure of hosting this exciting event at Kunsthaus Ballroom Zurich. It featured a pitch competition between 9 promising student biotech startups in front of dozens of industry experts and investors, with 5,000 CHF on the line, and also selected the winner of the 30,000 CHF reward from our forge track.
WINNERS
Forge Track
PMAC
PMAC’s team Kathryn Peterson and Christian Metzner have undertaken Lonza’s challenge of monitoring bioreactor contamination using a novel technology utilizing microfluidics and droplet-based detection models, where they incubate minute samples from the bioreactor and examine them individually with a high throughput detector.
Startup Pitch
ATLyphe Therapeutics fought against the fierce competition and managed to grab the first place of the startup pitch competition. As a pre-clinical biotech spin-off from the ETH Zurich and University of Zurich, they are focused in the area of precision medicine, working on a T-cell engager and activator technology, with the goal to make hematopoetic transplant of stem cells safer and more effective.
